Creativity Continues…

Now I have retired and closed A Maze of Memories I have decided not to post on this blog in the future. It will remain visible for another year so previous inspiration can still be searched.

I have however started a personal blog that will feature my new creative adventures – in the kitchen, garden, craft room and travels. My first post is about making home made ice cream!

If you would like to follow the blog and be notified of new posts you can do so. Hover over the post and a little box will appear in the bottom right hand corner. Click on it and add your email address. It’s that easy.

You can also leave comments. It will be great to hear from you.

Memorable Moments!

I  thought I would share a few of my favourite photos from our final five weeks!
Jane & Issy sorting out mountains of card scraps!
Did we really make this number of sample cards? Now destined for charities once I have found the time to sort them out!
Overwhelmed with good wishes for my retirement:

Kirstie’s clever cakes:
A visit from my Somerset aunty and uncle on Good Friday:
Laura is a  woman after my own heart. You can never have TOO MUCH cardstock!
Pat presenting Jane with a wonderful mini album of her time at A Maze of Memories:
I couldn’t have managed everything with out the help of my great team…

…and my wonderful family!
Mandi Simons fitting nine chairs and eight tables into one small car! How did she do that!

And Pat manages to fit 120 paper trays in her tiny car!

My final classes:
Interacting with our young crafters:

Thanks Sophie!
A lot of hard work. So much stuff to organise and clear!
Empty at last:
Skip filled:
And finally, taken after our closure. Friendships created at AMOM continued!

The Stock Room!

The stock room as it has never been seen before!

All the hard work is thanks to Jane, Sarah and my husband.

And a lovely photo of Jane and Pat. Pat has made Jane a keepsake album of her time at A Maze of Memories.

Thank You!

I have been touched with the response to my impending retirement over the last five weeks, and would like to say a HUGE thank to everyone fore their support and kindness.
The wonderful hand made cards and also gifts has been quite overwhelming. My house looks like a florist….
…and my garden also has new goodies including plants and a table!
I will be able to enjoy all the wine, Prosecco and Champagne for months to come.
I also received some exquisite and beautiful hand crafted gifts. I haven’t had time to display all my cards at home yet but they will make quite a display. Once I have some time I’m planning to photograph them and post them on the blog so everyone can enjoy all the creativity and ideas! My husband, daughter and myself made a start yesterday on clearing the craft centre.

A BIG job that’s going to take quite a while!

I have boxes and boxes of cards……

….and once sorted and matched to envelopes will mostly be going to charity.
How many tables and chairs can be fitted into one normal sized car? Mandi managed to fit eight tables and eight chairs in hers which are destined for her village hall!!!

Most of the furniture and fittings have been donated to Michael Sobel House – Oxfordshire’s Palliative Care charity.

My team and myself are going to be very busy this week as there is a lot to sort. And after that I am going to be even busier as a retired person! Thank you everyone for all your good wishes for my retirement.

Something Different!

Have you spotted the Elizabeth Crafts dies in the shop that you can use to create pieces of jewellery with? All the products featured are now half price. We have the Sea Glass set……
…and the Droplets set:

The dies cut shapes that are perfect for necklaces and earrings.  Watch a short video here that shows how the dies can be used with Shimmer Sheets to create jewellery.

I like the way the shimmer sheets can be embossed and sanded, or even coloured with alcohol inks.
We have packs of shimmer sheets in stock. This first pack is a mix of metallic colours. There are ten sheets in the pack.
We also have the patterned type that shimmers with different colours in stock as well. These are also a mix of colours with ten sheets in the pack:
Finding masculine cards difficult is something we hear a lot in the craft room. How about investing in an electric guitar die which would also be great for teenage cards?  Its usually £10.99 but now half price! We have several in stock.

I found loads of inspiration on the web for using it. This first card combines the guitar with a large shadowed birthday greeting and some music notes. Very effective.

This gatefold style card features a pair of guitars and a stamped image. How about putting a photo of the recipient on the inside for a bit of extra fun.

This third card features the guitar backed with some music themed pattern paper:

Or take it up a notch and create a side step card using silver metallic card and more music notes. That stamped greeting was from a previous Creative Stamping collection.

Finally, we have been sorting out lots of pre-loved craft equipment that we have used for classes. There’s a lot! As well as punches we have heat guns, craft sheets, cutting mats, paint, palettes stamps and lots more besides. Do call in for coffee, cake, chat and a browse.

We have also found some new items in the stock room which we are selling for bargain prices!  Please let me know if there is anything featured that you would like reserved.

More Bargains!

I’m featuring more crafty products that you might just need! First this very unusual die that creates lovely folded hearts! Now half price.
It’s easy to create lovely heart embellishments by simply folding and slotting the shapes together.
Using two colours enhances the design:
The hearts can be made in two sizes.

Did you spot the birds on the card above. We have that stamp set in stock! Now only £3.
These two sets, dies and stamps, work really well together. The trainers could also be used for activities other than tennis as well.
The die is large so makes a great focal point for a card:

I thought I would highlight this cute stamp set. The two children, dressed up to play cowboys and Indians is really sweet. It would make nice children’s cards, or embellishments for scrapbook layouts. We have just the one in stock, but of course it’s half price!
This small die set is fun. It creates emoji faces! Here is the lawn fawn introductory video!
Watch the video here to see one way to use it!
You don’t just need to use circles for the faces!
Another under rated lawn fawn die is this large speech bubble border, which is now only £3.50.
There are loads of fun cards on the internet that feature it!
Now for something totally different. The Joy Crafts Hang System, also half price.
This useful two piece die set is by Joy! Crafts. Perfect for making unique hanging craft projects. There are instructions for use on the packaging. The top dies measure approximately  2.5″ x 2.3″:

The bottom die: 3.3″ x 0.9″
Next up a large Sizzex Thinlet spray that includes foliage, flowers and a quote.
To find out how it has been used to create this beautiful scrapbook layout click here.
It also makes lovely cards. Find out how to make this card by clicking here.

A beautiful leafy flourish is a really useful die to have in your collection. I really like this Marianne Creatable Swirls and Leaves die and it is now only £3.60!
Check out how pretty it looks on the cards below:
Next I am featuring another Marianne Craftables die, but this time a flower sentiment. This would look lovely on any floral card with a specific greeting such as thank you or happy birthday stamped inside. Now reduced from £6 to £3.
The die has a stencil feature. Just ink through in the colour of your choice:
It really is a very useful sentiment for all sorts of cards!
Finally check out this cute Build-Up-Bambi dies set. Now only £4.50!
The deer can be styled looking forward or turning from behind! Now only £4.50! Watch a video here to see how it can be put together.
